NATURE VS NURTURE
Nature versus nurture: what affects a person more, their
genes or their surroundings and the way they are raised?
What effects a person more either his genes or his
upbringing well first of all the issue here is related to social sciences
because as yet no such genes have been discovered that could be classified as
bad in fact every baby born is as clean and pure as any else it is the
upbringing which nurtures a person’s personality. The upbringing includes a lot
many factors the society religion culture parents education etc, so the
question of nature versus nurture runs out it is only nurture which forms a
person that we see as an end result.
The positive and negative effects of the surroundings are
always evident in every one of us they are so strong in deed that we can never
through all our lives run away from them they define our person and the lives
we lead though sometimes through self effort people come out with amazing
results from the worst of the surroundings but that too if studied deeply will prove that
those individuals who did rise from such
surroundings to be qualified amongst the cream of humanity had huge effects on
them of some teacher or mentor brilliance may never just rise just out of the
blue of course it is there in many individuals they may never know of it
themselves all their lives it has been always important for brilliance in an
individual to be polished by the external factors to gain its full composure
and place so that it could be of any use to humanity on the whole.
Indeed we can also admit that there are some traits in
people that are kind of inbred or built in they could be positive or negative
in other words in the genes but they too have to be polished and are polished
by the surroundings of a person for example a person may be by nature impatient
but the surroundings i.e. parents teachers society on the whole teach that
person to control hi natural tendencies and to put them to a better use.
Human society is based upon morals of which can be
divided in to two groups universal and local for example it’s a universal
morale not to lie around everybody excepts that everywhere in the world where
as touching the feet of your seniors or elders is also a morale in some
societies whereas being totally alien to others. Morales indeed are the key
factor shaping a person and his individuality they may differ from person to
person in the same society the more pious morals a person has the more refined
a personality will be evident.
From the inception of mankind the most important role played
in a person’s outlook towards others the world and things in general is
governed by religion in fact religion is the birthplace of all morality indeed
one could easily say in other words religion is morality. All major religions
identify good and bad and a person learns from the early age the difference
between good and bad in the religious context which is deeply ingrained in the
person all his/her life. Even if a person was to stray away from the rites
towards the wrongs he is bound to know inside the difference between good and
bad for example no one would take a bribe thinking it to be a good thing people
will find reasons for there faltering from the morals ingrained in them but
they will always know what is wrong and what is right.
Temporary needs which may be very important may change or
eliminate the sense of good or bad in a person according to his current
situation situations for example like emergencies like natural disasters or
wars where a person’s inbuilt struggle
to survive may override the known norms of good and bad but even in the extreme
situations a person would in the depths of his heart always know right from
wrong.
Thus we can easily conclude that it is the surroundings a
person is raised in that are pivotal in the forming of the end product that is
the personality.
